Pakistan, Sept. 28 — Three traffic police personnel were martyred after armed attackers opened fire on their vehicle in Tank district. The attack took place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where police later launched a search operation.
According to the provided information, the attackers targeted a police vehicle before fleeing the area. The bodies of the three slain personnel were taken to District Headquarters Hospital after the incident.
Police began searching the surrounding area after the attackers escaped from the scene. Authorities have not provided further details about the identities of the attackers or the progress of the operation.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack and expressed grief over the deaths. He paid tribute to the slain personnel and offered condolences to their families.
Naqvi said the government stood with the families of the deceased during their difficult time. He also said the sacrifices of personnel killed while fighting terrorism would not be in vain.
The attack comes amid several incidents reported recently across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A day earlier, three people were killed and three others injured during an attack in Lakki Marwat district.
Earlier, a suspected suicide blast and gunfire at a checkpost in Dera Ismail Khan killed 12 people. The same incident also left 35 others injured, according to the provided information. On September 18, an attack during Friday prayers at the old police lines in Kohat killed 21 people. More than 100 people were also injured in that incident.
