A Utah mother is leaving no stone unturned to tick off a bucket list item with her daughter as she fights cancer for the fourth time.
Jenny Lowe, 41, learned that her ovarian cancer had returned in August but that has not stopped her from living life to the fullest.
Lowe is planning to attend a Kacey Musgraves concert with her husband James, but because her five-year-old daughter Hope can’t attend the show, she is desperately trying to arrange a time to meet the artist with her family.
The couple booked tickets for Musgraves’s October 15 concert in Salt Lake City with their friends, before finding out that their young daughter is actually a massive fan too.
Lowe recently posted a video of her five-year-old daughter singing Too Good to Be True on Instagram and tagged Musgraves in the adorable video.
The mom has now asked the artist if it would be possible for her family to meet her even for ‘a few minutes’ so that the family can have the special memory for Hope.
‘Kacey, I’m taking a chance and hoping this somehow finds its way to you. My five-year-old daughter, Hope, has accidentally turned one of your songs into something that belongs to the two of us,’ Lowe wrote in the post.
She explained how Hope is heartbroken that she won’t be at the concert.
She further added: ‘So I’m taking a chance and asking: If there is any possible way for Hope, my husband and me to meet you for even a few minutes while you’re in Salt Lake City, I would be incredibly grateful.’
‘I don’t need anything elaborate. I’d just love for Hope to meet the woman behind the song she calls “Make Some Breakfast,”’ Lowe wrote.
Lowe explained how Musgraves has become an important part of their lives – with the mother saying that she sings Too Good to Be True to Hope at bedtime.
She added that her young daughter knows the lyrics by heart and thinks that the song is titled ‘Make Some Breakfast’ since it starts with those words.
Lowe said that one night when she was feeling sad after learning that her cancer was back, Hope started singing the song for her mommy.
‘I recorded it in the dark, and you can’t even see her but I’ve kept that little recording because hearing her sing it to me is one of the most precious memories I have,’ she wrote in the post.
She told ABC4 that the moment was special because she realized how kids listen to things carefully and we often do not notice how it can impact them.
It was after this heartwarming moment that the mom decided to shoot her shot and see if Hope and the family could meet Musgraves.
‘I kind of just made this public plea about, you know, is there any way we could meet her, or somehow get in front of her so that Hope could meet the woman behind ‘make some breakfast,’’ Jenny told the outlet.
She was astounded that so many people shared her story, calling it a ‘moment of human interest and impact.’
‘It’s just this really humbling and profound moment… People are just being so kind to share our story and be willing to make these small bucket list items come to fruition,’ she told the outlet.
Lowe was diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer in 2019, ABC4 reports.
She and James were planning to start a family but due to the diagnosis, Lowe said she lost the ‘ability to have children of my own.’
The couple had Hope in 2021 through surrogacy, Lowe told the outlet.
Her cancer came back in 2023 and was in remission but it came back again in 2025.
The mother has also written a book on her cancer journey titled Saved by Hope.
‘Hope is just always here to bring a light… I don’t know what this journey would look like without her here. She’s a blessing to have in our family,’ she said.
