The National Research Council of Science & Technology (NST) announced on September 28 that it had appointed Jeong Woo-sik, a professor in the Department of Nuclear Engineering at Sejong University, as the new director of the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, and Kang Sang-hee, a professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Myongji University, as the new director of the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute during a temporary board meeting. Both new directors will begin their three-year terms on September 29.

Jeong Woo-sik, the incoming director of the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, graduated from Seoul National University’s Department of Nuclear Engineering and earned master’s and doctoral degrees in nuclear engineering from KAIST. He worked at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute for 12 years from 2002 and joined Sejong University as a professor in 2014.

Kang Sang-hee, the incoming director of the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute, received bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering from Seoul National University. He joined Myongji University as a professor in 1994 and currently serves as a professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
