U.S. President Donald Trump denied various poll results showing his approval rating at historic lows due to high oil prices and inflation on the 4th, urging his key supporters, MAGA (Make America Great Again), to vote in the midterm elections. On his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump stated, “Polls have always underestimated MAGA,” adding, “They tried to suppress voting, but I won all 7 battleground states, the national vote, 86% of counties, and 99% of this year’s primaries.”

While major media outlets, including the New York Times (NYT), reported a tight race between Trump and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, former vice president, ahead of the 2024 election, Trump secured a decisive victory by winning all 7 battleground states. Trump’s remark, “I am on the ballot,” is interpreted as encouraging his supporters to vote as if he were running in this election. Following visits to Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Ohio last week, Trump is scheduled to hold rallies in Nebraska and New York this week. He plans to continue campaigning until the final moments of the election, as close races are unfolding even in Republican strongholds like Texas and Kansas.

Trump also cited remarks by Dick Morris, a Republican strategist, who referenced pollster Jim McLaughlin’s data: “Your approval rating was consistently 47–50% in the monthly poll on May 11, 2025.” Trump claimed this figure alone is sufficient for the Republican Party to retain the House. However, the NYT’s average of leading polls shows Trump’s approval rating at 37%, with 61% disapproval. On the same day, Trump criticized Fox News, a conservative-leaning outlet, for inadequate coverage of his rallies, stating, “It’s sad,” and accused them of “spending more time conversing with communists, socialists, and foolish Democrats.”
