Former Haas Formula 1 driverEsteban Oconhas refuted claims circulating in French media about a physical clash with team principal Ayao Komatsu, as he responded to his absence from this weekend’s Mexico Grand Prix.

Ocon was sidelined during the Mexico race weekend, likely due to a public disagreement with his race engineer in free practice. This incident prompted a meeting with the team on Friday night, highlighting the growing tension between the French driver and his squad.

Due to events unfolding on Friday—details of which remain limited—Haas opted to replace Ocon for the rest of the weekend, with reserve driver and Toyota WEC competitor Ryo Hirakawa stepping in to drive his car starting from FP3.

With French media speculating widely about the nature of Ocon’s conflict with Komatsu, including unsubstantiated reports of a potential physical confrontation, Ocon’s representatives felt compelled to issue a denial through his social media platforms.

Following the recent decision fromHaas F1 Teamthat I will not be taking part in this weekend’s Mexico City Grand Prix, I would like to formally respond to certain media reports and rumors surrounding the matter,” Ocon stated on his accounts.

Last night, a difference in opinions led to a discussion among the relevant parties. While I acknowledge that such a conversation occurred, I firmly reject any allegations or suggestions that physical violence was involved in resolving any disagreements.

He stated: “I unequivocally reject violence in every form and am convinced that differences must always be resolved with professionalism, courtesy, and shared understanding. I urge everyone to refrain from speculation as the situation is under review. Additional information will be shared when appropriate.

It remains uncertain whether Ocon will get back behind the wheel for next weekend’s Brazilian Grand Prix or if he will conclude the season with the American-owned team.
